Cassandra Adair (Dance Instructor/Administration)
Born and raised in West Palm Beach, Cassandra is a Dance Instructor at 20 years young and in love with our South Florida Community. Daughter to co-owners, Chris Adair and Cheryl Love, Cassandra has been raised to appreciate health and fitness from the day she was born. Chris, her father, always stressed healthy eating habits and encouraged her and her younger brother to stay active.
Cassandra played a variety of sports growing up and was involved in numerous extra circular activities including cheerleading, softball, gymnastics, flag football, as well as academic honor societies and student government. Nothing really stuck though until she found the dance team in 7th grade. After that, dance was Cassandra’s main focus and passion. She began taking classes at a studio in Wellington, eventually assistant teaching and substituting for regular teachers until ultimately getting a class schedule of her own. Cassandra now has almost 6 years of experience as a dance instructor, primarily in Hip Hop, but also acrobatics, jazz, pom-pom, and beginner ballet/tap. Dance is not only a love for Cassandra, but a great way for her to stay in shape and encourage the younger generation to do the same. The only thing close to Cassandra’s passion for dance is her passion for children.
Cassandra was always the go-to babysitter among family and neighbors. Beginning in middle school she volunteers at her church in the nursery. Being a dance teacher was the best way to be able to combine both of those passions. Cassandra’s main focus in teaching is more than learning choreography. Her classroom is more than just music and moves. Students are given life lessons, time for reflection of themselves and their interest in dance, goal setting, and personal growth by means of journaling. Cassandra has had many great mentors in her life and she strives to be that positive role model for her students in return.
Cassandra graduated from Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts with a speciality in communications. As of now, Cassandra is a dance instructor at Dance Theatre of Wellington along with her class at Get Fit Wellington and teaching after school at several local elementary schools. She attends Palm Beach Atlantic University in downtown West Palm Beach, and will graduate with a bachelors in Psychology with a dance minor. Cassandra plans on getting her doctorate and eventually getting additional certification to become a dance movement therapist.
In addition to teaching, school, and her extracurricular activities in high school, Cassandra partnered with Renaissance Charter School, a school for students with special needs, to create an after school dance program with their children. For a year, once a week, Cassandra worked with students with a variety of disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and more. Cassandra saw extraordinary progress and elevation of functioning, mood, openness, and comfort level, the more she worked with those students. That’s where her interest in dance therapy thrived.
After completing school, Cassandra would like to combine her love for dance, people, and helping to provide therapeutic dance and movement sessions.
Get Fit Wellington is a special place for Cassandra because she gets to do what she loves everyday.
